The Best of Both Worlds...

Let's just start this out by saying: we are SO cool.
Not only do we own Hannah Montana costumes, but we wear them in public.
Every year at Spring Arbor, freshmen participate in an event called Blue Gnoo where they try to find their peer advisors who are hidden in the Meridian Mall in disguises.  We are not PAs (peer advisors), but have always thought it would be fun to dress up and hide in the mall.  So we thought, "Why not? We have a free Friday night and don't get embarrassed easily."
And so we did.

We (including our friend Alyssum - dressed as a boy) proceeded to the festivities dressed in very non-traditional garb.  Jessica donned a
Hannah Montana wig, jean skorts, leggings, and boots.  Erika wore a blue wig with a blue bandana, green and black tights, and lots of jewelry.

We were quite the trio walking into the mall.  And.  None of us have ever felt so judged as we were when we first entered the mall.  But we got over that pretty quickly.

Enter Freshmen.

At first they were timid, barely daring to come up to us and ask us if we were PAs.  At one point, they were so scared to actually stop us, they chased (literally) us around a kiosk 3 times. It was like ring around the rosie. Grown-up style.  Then they started to get more aggressive.  Circling us and cornering us. . . we felt like hunted prey.  It was really quite frightening.  By the end of the night, we had mastered our scattering technique, and Jessica even got shin splints from all the "running." (and the tennis she had played earlier in the day didn't help that, either).

After the game was over, we went back to SAU where Robin (the organizer of the event and one of the sweetest people ever) introduced us as decoys and we watched as 3/4 of the freshmen admitted they had been bamboozled by our trickery. Yessss. Our mission here is complete.
